This year packet pick-up has been extended to include a downtown packet pick-up on Wednesday and Thursday in addition to the regular packet pick-up at the event site in Waukee.

PrintBACoon RIDE TR3S Pre-Party will be in Waukee’s Centennial Park from 5pm-11pm.  BACooN Sizzles Waukee is the Friday Night Pre-Party that will get you into the groove and ready to ride the BACooN RIDE TR3S the next day!  “BACooN Sizzles Waukee” will kick off a weekend full of bacon and bikes. All bacon lovers are invited and those who attend the party on Friday night will enjoy great live bands (to be announced!)  Mouth-watering bacon delicacies from a host of vendors and a beer garden with a variety of local and national brews will be a part of the festivities.  

The M80s Band is all 80s all the time! Before the night’s end, you will be singing aloud or playing the air guitar. Catch the 80s wave with THE M80s!

Waukee  (BACON STOP!!!) 

BACON Chorizo Burrito

On Saturday morning, Gusto Pizza Co. will provide riders with an extra boost of protein with a BACON Chorizo Burrito.  These are house-made BACON & pork chorizo, scrambled eggs and queso blanco wrapped in a flour tortilla with choice of local Tres Mentes hot or mild salsa!

Gusto will be serving these before you start your ride in Centennial Park from 6:00-10:00 a.m.  The City of Waukee has played a special part since the inaugural BACooN RIDE with Centennial Park as home base for the 2014 and 2015 rides with camping, entertainment and parking available to registered riders. Bacon lovers will enjoy plenty of fun activities and bacon to make them feel right at home.


The downtown businesses in Waukee will be handing out bananas again as riders ride through the Waukee Triangle area!

Adel    (BACON STOP!!!)

Join the Rendezvous Lounge located on Main Street (between 9th and 10th Street) in historic Adel for maple bacon donuts provided by Dunkin Donuts all washed down with Bloody Mary’s or Screw Drivers.

The Adel Boy Scouts Troop 152 will be serving the donuts along with bananas and Gatorade all for a free will donation.  The Boy Scouts will use these funds for summer camping adventures.

Redfield (BACON STOP!!!)

REDFIELD,  is the second stop on the BACooN RIDE TR3S!

When you roll into town, if you haven’t gotten your breakfast on, please stop by our Redfield American Legion Post and enjoy an all you can eat breakfast for $7.  This is only open from 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. so get there early!

Your Passport stop again will be at our Redfield Locker. Don and his crew will be serving up Jalapeno Bacon for all bacon lovers to enjoy.  They are also hosting live music by Gravel Travel, playing as long as we have people wanting to listen. As always come see and get your picture taken with BaCoon, located at the entrance to the locker! Beside the locker, you should be sure to visit the local 4-H group, they are selling 50/50 burgers…that is ½ burger, and ½ bacon.


While listening to the energizing music, head on over to Redfield’s newest business, Harvey’s Diner & Pub. They will be celebrating their first weekend opening, and will be serving cold refreshment to our favorite bacon biker guests.  They will be hosting a build your own Bloody Bacon Mary Bar, and also Bloody Bacon Maria for $5.  Aluminum canned beer will be $3 each! While in the beer garden,the Redfield Development Corportation will be serving up a Peanut Butter & Jalapeno wrapped in bacon snack. This is a bacon delicacy you won’t want to miss!

Around the corner from the Redfield Locker & Harvey’s, don’t forget to check out Off Side Pizza & Pub, they will be serving cold drinks, and provide an air conditioned bar to cool off in.  They will also be hosting a beer garden in the front of their building.

To satisfy your sweet tooth, we have the After Prom Committee selling your favorite chocolate covered bacon!

PJ’s will be grilling up Bacon Jalapeños Popper Sliders for this year’s Bacon Stop.  An adult Lemonade Vodka stand featuring bacon infused drinks and fresh squeezed spiked lemonades will be stationed in the beer garden with cold tall boys waiting for you right off the trail. Our Bourbon & Whiskey Bacon Bar is something new and not to be missed this year. Live music by Glass House Prophet rocking classics will be playing all day! Panora Chamber will be selling fresh baked goods from the community promoting Panorama Days Annual Event in August. Panora’s favorite local camp St Thomas More will be offering ice cold water and Gatorade. Also, Fresh fruit Smoothies, Bacon pralines ice cream Sundays, smoked brisket, Iowa Nachos and PJs restaurant will be ready for whatever the crowds crave! BACooN Riders will get to enjoy a brand-new bacon food item this year with their BACooN RIDE PassPORK…..The Hotel Pattee won the “Best Sweet Dish” at the 9th Blue Ribbon Bacon Fest with their BACON S’Mores!  The Bacon S’More is created with graham cracker crumbles, chocolate chips, warm liquid  marshmallow, topped with bacon bits that have been cooked in maple syrup and brown sugar.  All of this is served in a cup!

In addition to the last BACON STOP Mediterranean Fresh will be out with Gyros, etc. Mickey’s Waukee Booth will have Burgers & Chicken with Bacon, Turkey Bacon Wraps, Pulled Pork, Bacon Mac & Cheese, Kettle Chips and Cole Slaw.  Mickey’s will be serving up Cold Tall boys and the Iowa Beer Bus will be out with all Iowa Craft Brews!

Mickey’s parking lot will be fenced in for live bands for the post party! The last stop for BACooN RIDE this year is Mickey’s Irish Pub in Waukee and Becker will be one of the bands playing the after party!

SAG Support

The Bacoon Ride will provide a support vehicle with trailer that can transport 15 or more bicycles and riders. SAG vehicles cannot transport riders individually and must wait until the SAG is full or to return for the designated time.

SAG Service Times:
10:45 – 11:00 AM in Adel
11:45 – 12:00 AM in Redfield
1:45 – 2:00 PM in Panora (if full, SAG will return to Waukee)
3:15 – 3:30 PM in Jamaica
4:45 – 5:00 PM in Perry
5:45 – 6 PM in Dallas Center (return to Waukee)

SAG vehicles cannot operate on the trail.  Two smaller vehicles with bike racks will be available as mini SAGs to retrieve participants that have a mechanical along the trail.  In such case, those riders must be picked up at an intersection and not on the trail itself. A disabled bicycle and the rider will be taken to the next town with a bike shop for repair or for SAG.  Riders can contact 515.309.2867 to connect with the mini SAG driver.

  1. Can you please verify packet pick up times for Friday at the High School. There are two time slots listed on your website schedule…. 6pm-9pm or is it 4pm-9pm????

  2. What is needed to pick up packets for other people? I want to pick up our entire groups packets on Friday night….proof of ID??

      1. B&M Bar and Grill in Panora will be offering up Bacon Bloody Mary’s, Bacon & Egg Sandwiches, and BLT’s starting at 9 am until the last rider leaves! Signs will be posted along the bike trail. All specials listed are just $4.00! Come in and Cool down!
