The good news is: Yes –We are moving forward with the Bacoon Ride. You can register for the event. If you registered for the event in 2020, your registration has been forwarded to this year.

COVID-19 Guidance

We are following the advice of the Iowa Department of Public Health, CDC, and local health departments as we make plans for the events. We will be sure to keep you up-to-date on what the safety protocols will be.

The final thing to mention is how much of a role you have played in bicycle advocacy. We look forward to sharing with you how these events grow bicycling AND play a role in funding our advocacy work at the legislature, policy advancements at the DOT, and putting more kids on bikes with our Safe Routes to School Program.When you bicycle on Iowa’s trails or roadways, you want an enjoyable ride taking you safely to your destination. About the Bacoon Ride

Like to ride Bicycles?  Like Bacon? Like the Raccoon River Valley Trail? Put it all together and you have the BACooN RIDE starting and ending in Waukee.  Enjoy a 71-mile on the scenic Raccoon River Valley Trail featuring bacon specialty foods along the way.

The BACooN RIDE registration includes:

  • Numerous BACON stops featuring BACON snacks and samples throughout the day.
  • A commemorative PassPORK (punch card for your BACON treats!)
  • Awesome drink specials at numerous BACON party stops (including BACON-themed drinks)

ARRIVAL/DIRECTIONS:

Here are the directions you need to get to Centennial Park (1255 Warrior Lane, Waukee, Iowa 50263):

From Interstate 80:

  • Take exit 118 onto Grand Prairie Parkway
  • Head north to the intersection of Grand Prairie Parkway and University Avenue
  • Turn Left and head west
  • If you are camping please be in the middle lane of University Avenue and continue to the intersection of Warrior Lane and turn right.
  • If you are coming for packet pick-up please be in the right lane of University Avenue and turn right onto Ashworth Drive

From Interstate 80/35:

  • Take exit 124 onto University Avenue
  • Head west on University Avenue
  • If you are camping please be in the middle lane of University Avenue and continue to the intersection of Warrior Lane and turn right.
  • If you are coming for packet pick-up please be in the right lane of University Avenue and turn right onto Ashworth Drive
